Frame lily / chair / 400 × 430 × 815 , sh440

What if there was a chair on the moon? Perhaps I could sit in that chair and gaze upon our planet. That thought led to countless drawings and a number of prototypes, none of which satisfied me. The reason was clear. I actually already knew exactly the kind of chair you would need to relax on the moon. Enzo Mari's Tonietta. It is my favorite chair, the archetype for my creation. It is my favorite chair. It is a chair so beautiful that it was given a woman's name, and on the day that I gave up on any hope of ever being able to draw a silhouette that would be better than it, I received news of Mari's passing. The souls of the dead return to the moon.

I decided to make a chair in which Mari could sit on the moon. Tonietta, the chair that I most love and I think he most loved too. If his chair is a beautiful full moon, I would make a crescent moon. The frail structure is perhaps not realistic enough to be called "design", but I continue to search for a way to make it practical while also retaining the beauty of the crescent moon.
